About Me

Prof. Nilesh K. Modi

I am Dr. Nilesh Modi, a passionate researcher and academician with over 12 years of experience in academics and the IT industry. My vision is to elevate academic institutions to thrive in a competitive global environment while fostering innovation and excellence.

I hold a Doctorate in E-Security (Computer Science and Applications) and am actively pursuing post-doctoral research in Wireless Communication and Security, alongside certification in Ethical Hacking. My primary research focus is on Cyber Security, where I aim to develop advanced solutions to address modern challenges in the digital landscape.

Professional Engagements:
I am an active life member of professional organizations such as CSI, IEEE, IACSIT, IACSI, and IAEng. As a consultant, I contribute to IT system development projects and have successfully implemented various government-funded initiatives. I serve as a member of the Board of Studies and Selection Committees at Gujarat Technological University and several other universities in India.

Leadership Roles:
Currently, I am working as the District Coordinator for the SANDHAN Program, a significant initiative by the Government of Gujarat aimed at enhancing educational standards through modern technology. My commitment to academia, research, and industry drives me to make impactful contributions that align with national and global advancements.

NAAC A++ Accreditation Achievement:

While serving as Director – CIQA at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University, I had the honor of leading the university through its very first NAAC accreditation cycle—earning an A++ Grade with a 3.55 CGPA. This made us the first State Open University in India and the only university in Gujarat to reach this milestone.

SWAYAM Course Selection
> with Govt. Grant:

My course titled "Cyber Security Tools, Techniques and Countermeasures" was selected by the Ministry of Education, Government of India for the SWAYAM online learning platform. A development grant of ₹13.5 lakhs was sanctioned, enabling me to contribute to national-level digital education.

Career Award for
Young Teachers AICTE:

In 2013–14, I was honored with the Career Award for Young Teachers by AICTE, recognizing my research in the area of cybersecurity. I received ₹9 lakhs in grant funding for a project aimed at modeling a secure and efficient framework for using networked resources in modern organizations.

Principal Investigator –
MODROB Scheme AICTE

That same year, I was entrusted with the role of Principal Investigator under the MODROB (Modernization and Removal of Obsolescence) Scheme. This project was backed by ₹9.87 lakhs and focused on upgrading computing infrastructure with next-gen teaching and learning tools.

Significant Contribution
Award – CSI 2013:

In 2013, the Computer Society of India (CSI) awarded me the Significant Contribution Award during their National Convention in Vishakhapatnam. This recognition acknowledged a decade of work in promoting IT innovation and education at various institutional levels.

Patron Award – CSI 2020:

In 2020, I was deeply honored to receive the Patron Award from CSI at their 53rd Annual Convention in Bhubaneswar. This award recognized my continued efforts in spreading digital literacy and promoting the use of ICT tools across education and governance.
